I can't believe its Thanksgiving!
On one hand the year has flown and on the other, I've often felt we'd never get to the end.
It's been anything but normal, and the holidays are looking so different this year.
Our house is usually bulging at the seams with family and friends, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Not only do I love a house full to cook for, but I start counting down to the holiday season at the end of September!
It goes without saying that I love to cook, and cooking for me is love.
I love planning the menu, a table setting, and cocktails.
I love the morning of breakfast, usually biscuits and marmalade glazed ham with my parents.
I love the chaos of the few minutes before everyone arrives, thinking I'm under control and inevitably realizing I've forgotten something. Would it even be a holiday if you didn't?!
I love the moment the house is full, and the orchestra of life is playing, there's laughter and chatter, glasses are clinking and people are nibbling.
I love sitting down to a plate as big as my head of once a year traditions. To my husband tapping his wine glass with his fork to get everyone's attention, to thank them for coming, and me for making the meal.
I love when dinner is done, dessert has been served and there's still a handful of us partaking in a cocktail or glass of wine. Some of us go back to the cheese board, some go back to dessert, the shoes are off the feet are up and its a perfect finish.
This year will look so different, so odd, so quiet!
Definitely not my celebration of choice, but the sacrifice is worth it. We, like many families, have been dealt some tough hands this year.
My heart has endured and I'm grateful.
Grateful for my family, my friends, and this amazing journey called life.
Grateful for every single one of you who follow along and share my passion.
While your tables may not be full, I hope your hearts are.
I hope you and your loved ones are safe and healthy, and have much to be thankful for.
Happiest of Thanksgivings to you all.
